Student Loan dan Realita Pendidikan

Saya cukup terkejut mendengar berita keberadaan Student Loan di Indonesia. Bagaimana tidak, Student Loan yang diharapkan bisa menjawab permasalahan pendidikan di Indonesia justru berpotensi untuk menambah masalah daripada mengakhiri masalah.

Sebelum saya lanjutkan, saya ingatkan tulisan ini berupa opini dan subjektif terhadap pandangan saya dengan data-data yang saya miliki. Saya terbuka dengan argumentasi baik pro maupun kontra terkait topik ini.

Mungkin kita harus kenalan dengan Student Loan sebelum berargumen. Student Loan adalah sebuah peminjaman dari satu pihak (bank) ke pihak lainnya (mahasiswa) dalam bentuk Kredit Tanpa Agunan (KTA). Sebenarnya, pemerintah juga dapat menggantikan bank, akan tetapi menurut UU, pemerintah dilarang melakukan komersialisasi pendidikan sehingga bank mendapatkan amanah ini dari pemerintah. Pinjaman ini diberikan kepada mahasiswa selaku pihak kedua selama yang bersangkutan menempuh kuliah dan dibayarkan oleh mahasiswa setelah dia lulus. Apakah harus mendapat kerja terlebih dahulu atau tidak, itu tergantung pada kontrak yang disepakati.
